PLANTATION AGRICULTUREIs a cultivation of cash crops on large tracts of land.The farms are called plantations (Estates).It is a specialized form of commercial farming in which one crop is usually grown.The system of growing only one dominant crop is called MONOCULTURE.It is practiced in the tropical regions of Africa, Asia and South America.It was introduced to East Africa by the European Settlers.A wide variety of crops grown includes: Coffee, Tea, Sugar cane, Sisal, Wattle, Pineapples, Cacao, Oil palm, Coconuts, Mangoes, Rubber, Tobacco, Cotton, Jute and Hamp.

It is more efficient and economical to use machinery. Example uses of a combined harvesters.It is carried out on very large farms in temperate regions. Grain farms can be as big as 240 – 16000 hectares.
