Why do we have to teach good behavior? Why should I have to teach kids to be good? They already know what they are supposed to do. Why can I not just expect good behavior?
Why Use A Matrix?Common VisionCommon LanguageCommon Experience Behavior Matrix

Creating a CultureWhat are the current conditions at our school? (Condition A)
Creating a CultureWhat do we want our school to look and sound like? (Condition B)
If students are making the same mistakes, consider changing the system – not the students.
So let’s change the system! What are our goals? Rough draftGoal 1: Cholla Chargers will improve tardies by at least 10% as measured in Mojave reports from 1st semester to 2nd semester through receiving weekly and quarterly incentives. These incentives will reward being in class on time at least 98% of the time.
So let’s change the system!Goal 2: Active, positive participation in class will improve by at least 10% as measured by teacher surveys compared at the end of 1st semester to 2nd semester. Positive participation will improve as a result of opportunities to participate positively in class and rewarding students at least weekly when improvement is noted.
So let’s change the system!Goal 3: Restorative practices will be used in all classrooms by the end of school year 2013-14 to address behavioral and attendance problems as measured by a teacher survey at the beginning of May, 2014.Goal 4: Guests from the community, including parents, visiting school officials, and community members will report they observed a positive learning environment on a daily basis as measured by random satisfaction surveys available through the campus monitors.
