Guideline for the Logo 4 Release date: 2011.03.01 Version: 1.4 Letterforms The Vestas logo consists of six specially drawn letterforms that are customized for the Vestas brand. Logo & Tagline As a general rule, the Vestas logo should be used as a stand-alone element. The tagline should, therefore, not be placed next to the logo. 226 Refer to the 221Guideline for Tagline222. Three Logo Versions The logo has been made in three versions: blue, black and white. No other versions of the logo are allowed. Use of the Three Logo Versions The blue logo is the primary logo and used as the 037rst choice logo. The white logo is used when the background colour does not favour a blue or black logo. The black logo is only used when colour printing is not an option. Colour speci037cations 226 Refer to the 221Guideline for Colour222. Logo File Formats The Vestas logo has been made into three different 037le formats: Eps, Jpg, and Gif. The Eps 037le format is for print. Jpeg and Gif 037le formats are for screen. Blue Logo Black Logo White Logo Never alter the Vestas logo in any way. Never change the shape or colour or use an outline version. Vestas Logo

Guideline for the Logo 5 Release date: 2011.03.01 Version: 1.4 Minimum Clear Space There should always be enough clear space around the logo in order to ensure that the logo stands out. The minimum clear space should never be less than the 223V224 in the Vestas logo. Minimum Size A recommended minimum size of the logo is de037ned. However, the material on which the logo is reproduced as well as the printing technique play a crucial role for the result. The most important thing to keep in mind is to ensure that the logo has a size that is proper and readable on the actual item. Displaying the Vestas Logo The white area shows the minimum clear space around the logo. Minimum size 20 mm An example showing an element that exceeds the minimum clear space. Guideline for the Logo 6 Release date: 2011.03.01 Version: 1.4 Placing the Logo The logo should appear on all Vestas material. It can be placed on coloured and photographic backgrounds. Always place the logo prominently and ensure that it appears clear and distinct. As a general rule, the logo is to be placed in one of the four corners of the layout. The logo is to be placed between 10 and 20 mm from the edge of the format. This distance will vary depending on format, margin and layout style in general. The distance from both edges must be equal. 226 Note there are layouts where the positioning might differ from the general rule. Logo Sizes Standard formats have 037xed logo widths. Standard format 1 (297 x 420 mm) Standard format 2 (210 x 280 mm) Standard format 3 (148 x 210 mm) Displaying the Vestas Logo Avoid: The Vestas logo is placed incorrectly in a 223busy223 area of the photograph, where the logo does not stand out clearly. Vestas Offshore is the winner of Customer Excellence Award 2009. Putting the customer at the centreHistorically, Vestas Offshore has struggled with poor turbine per- formance and low customer loyalty. But throughout 2009, Vestas Offshore has worked hard to focus on their customers and improve the performance of the 037eet of offshore turbines. With great suc- cess: A massive leap in the Loyalty Index from 37 to 58 points and an improvement of the Net Promoter Score from -60 to +10 last year, validate the results of these efforts. In the 2009 Customer Loyalty Survey, the customers expressed that Vestas Offshore has improved its performance on all parts of Vestas222 Value Proposition. The impressive leap in Customer Loyalty in 2009 gives high hopes for the future: In 2010 OFS is expected to reach the overall Vestas target for Customer Loyalty of 70 points. Among the successful initiatives - Increased performance of 037eet of offshore-turbines. - Improved customer dialogues for building stronger customer relationships. - Focus on identifying and solving customer issues of prority. - Communication of Vestas222 relentless commitment to the off-shore-market.Representing the core focus on customers, the Customer Excellence Award is given to the department, group or business unit that throughout the year has done most in Vestas to increase customer loyalty. Previous winners of the award were MED (2006), AME (2007), and CEU (2008). For more information on the Customer Loyalty Survey, please contact Daniel Breum, DANBR@vestas.com, Group Marketing & Customer Insight. Poster Committed. 8 Release date: 2011.03.01 Version: 1.4 Tagline

Guideline for Tagline 9 Release date: 2011.03.01 Version: 1.4 Tagline The tagline should appear on all Vestas material, unless it is used as a headline. Customized The tagline is customized for Vestas and must not be altered. In general, the tagline should stand alone and not be locked-up with the logo (please see page 12 for exceptions). Two Tagline Versions The tagline has been made in three versions: 226 White 226 Black 226 Grey (primarily for the logo/tagline lock-up version 226 please see page 12) 226 Note that no other versions of the tagline are allowed. Usage The black or white version are always to be used, depending on which is best suited to the background colour. Tagline File Formats The tagline has been made into three different 037le formats: Eps, Jpg, and Gif. The Eps 037le format is for print. Jpeg and Gif 037le formats are for screen. The content of the tagline can be communicated in three ways: 226 One is to emphazise the content of the tagline by turning the tagline into a headline. This should be done with the exact same wording. In this case the tagline does not necessarily need to be used, although it can be placed on the back of the document. 226 Another way is to use the word 221Wind.222 combined with other key message in the headline. In this case the tagline should be used. 226 A third scenario is to use a key message in the headline without the word 221Wind.222 In this case the tagline should be used. These examples only show the tagline and / headline scenarios 226 it222s not design examples and the grey background is purely for a visual guide. Wind. It means the world to us. Expem. Erusum ant. Guideline for Tagline 11 Release date: 2011.03.01 Version: 1.4 Chinese & French Versions Chinese version 226 Stand alone version Lock-up version 226 horizontal Lock-up version 226 vertical French version Besides the English version, the tagline has been made in two other languages: Chinese and French. The Chinese tagline is customized for Vestas and must not be altered. In general, the Chinese tagline should stand alone and not be locked-up with the English tagline. If a lock-up is needed the two lock- up versions; horizontal and vertical, should be used. The guidelines regarding use, colour and 037le formats are the same as the English version, please see page 9.

Guideline for Tagline 12 Release date: 2011.03.01 Version: 1.4 Special Version Logo/Tagline Lock-up Preferably, the tagline should stand alone. A special lock-up version is settled for limited use, e.g. for conferences. The TM symbol can be removed when using the lock-up version. File Format and Colours This special version has only been made in Eps 037le format, in blue/grey and white. Avoid: A lock-up version using the blue Vestas logo with black tagline. Avoid: A lock-up version with equal focus on logo and tagline.

Guideline for Tagline 13 Release date: 2011.03.01 Version: 1.4 Displaying the Tagline Placing the Tagline The tagline can be placed on coloured and photographic backgrounds. Always place the tagline prominently and ensure that it appears clear and distinct. As a general rule, the tagline is to be placed in one of the four corners of the layout. The tagline is to be placed between 10 to 20 mm from the edge of the format. This distance will vary depending on format, margin and layout style in general. The distance from both edges must be equal. The TM symbol is not to be included in the measurement of the distance. 226 Note there are layouts where the positioning might differ from the general rule. Tagline Sizes Standard formats have the following guidelines for tagline widths. These are for guidance only and can be adjusted if needed. Standard format 1 (297 x 420 mm) Standard format 2 (210 x 280 mm) Standard format 3 (148 x 210 mm) The tagline is placed correctly in a 223calm223 area of the photograph. Standard format 2: 78 mm Standard format 1: 100 mm Standard format 3: 55 mm Avoid: The tagline is placed incorrectly in a 223busy223 area of the photograph, where the logo does not stand out clearly.

Table of contents 1 2 3 4 5 4 Vestas Make-to-order 2A new & necessary supply chain setupForeword by Henrik N370rremark, CFO Vestas Wind Systems A/S You just opened the Vestas Make-to-Order handbook. In here, you find the Vestas Make-to-Order concept, defini- tions and 2011 roadmap. This new setup for our supply chain will drive down lead times and reduce inventories 226 two crucial objectives for Vestas to meet customer require- ments and improve our cash flow. Customers expect us to be flexible. The EDPR-order with delivery of up to 2,100 MW is a concrete example, because EDPR can change i.e. turbine variance, tower height and site location up until 12 weeks before delivery. To deliver on this promise, we need major internal improvement in our trans- actional and operational process performance. Our cash flow is highly affected by down payments and inventories, because we have high expenses in the supply chain (i.e. raw material and transport) that we carry until the turbines are up and running on site. This means that the faster and more accurate we plan, source, make and deliver; the less time we carry heavy down payments and large inventories resulting in a better cash flow. Therefore, we need a more efficient, flexible and demand-driven supply chain with the right strategic balance between flexibility and capacity. And the 2011 future state in the handbook is the right place to start. I know, just like you, that our supply chain has a lot of improvement potential; therefore we need to set high expectations and focus on deploying our 2011 targets. This brings a natural focus on our business units, because imple- menting pull systems is a main pillar in getting in control of our inventories 226 and stay in control. The content of this handbook is made by key stakeholders in the line organization: Production, Supply Chain Manage- ment, and with input from Vestas Mediterranean to include the perspectives of the SBUs and the customer. Only by working together in SBUs and PBUs in the supply chain will we be able to efficiently meet customer requirements. The common direction presented in this handbook is our foundation for creating a customer-driven supply chain. I fully support your effort and look forward to seeing the results. The EDPR-order with delivery of up to 2,100 MW is a concrete example, because EDPR can change i.e. turbine variance, tower height and site location up until 12 weeks before delivery. To deliver on this promise, we need major internal improvement in our trans-actional and operational process performance. Therefore, we need a more efficient, flexible and demand- driven supply chain with the right strategic balance between flexibility and capacity. In terms of weight, height and width, all of its components comply with local and international limits for standard transportation. Specifically, not one of its components weighs more than 70 tonnes. Your foundation costs are also lowered with the V112-3.0 MW due to its improved load control: the weight reduction overall minimises static loads, while the low mass of the top head reduces dynamic loads. The GridStreamer231 is an innovative power system that provides excellent grid support and is highly adaptable for future technical requirements. It also enables substations to be simpler and therefore more cost-effective.Easy-access serviceabilityThe V112-3.0 MW222s new nacelle is ergonomically designed and maximises the internal space available (e.g. by integrat-ing the power converter into the nacelle floor). This extra space also makes it easier for maintenance crews to gain access 226 reducing the time and cost spent on servicing and therefore maximising uptime. The innovative automatic lubrication of the yaw system, main bearing and generator delivers the triple benefit of increased reliability, reduced maintenance time and less frequent servicing. Combined, these factors save you money and maximise your returns on the wind energy produced on low- and medium-wind onshore sites. The V112-3.0 MW can be put into place and maintained using tools and equipment that are standard within the installation and servicing industries 226 minimising ongoing maintenance costsReduce wind energy costs by designY aw system226 Design based on V90-3.0 MW and V90-2.0 MW 226 8 yaw gears 226 Robust plain bearing with build in frictions CoolerTop231 cools the nacelleThe CoolerTop231 installed on the V112-3.0 MW uses the wind222s own energy to generate the cooling required, rather than consuming energy generated elsewhere. The fact that the CoolerTop231 has no moving parts means that it requires little maintenance, shaving costs once more. In addition, the absence of any electrical components ensures that the cooling system makes no noise 226 making it ideal for on- shore sites near to populated areas 226 while simultaneously reducing the turbine222s own energy consumption. Finally, the CoolerTop231 provides sufficient cooling at altitudes of up to 2,000 m for the turbine to remain operational. This makes the V112-3.0 MW an ideal choice for those locations, high above sea level, that were once deemed unsuitable. Guideline for Photo Style 39 Release date: 2011.03.01 Version: 1.4 4 Category 1 The photographs show the force of nature, with the focus on wind. These photographs should be exciting, dynamic, powerful and surprising. Consider the angle and cropping of the photographs as well as the overall composition226 factors that add an extra element to the photographs. 1 Force of Nature

Guideline for Photo Style 40 Release date: 2011.03.01 Version: 1.4 Category 2 The photographs depict the enormous consumption of energy worldwide, and as a consequence the huge demand for wind as a sustainable energy source. To easily relate to energy consump- tion, the subject is seen from both a macro and micro perspective 226 e.g. an illuminated metropolis combined with everyday home life. To insure the photograph is not too dark the photography is shot either at dawn, with crisp morning light, or at twilight; when the sky is still a bit bright. 2 Society

Guideline for Photo Style 41 Release date: 2011.03.01 Version: 1.4 Category 3 The photographs show Vestas people who are passionate about wind. There are two ways to portray Vestas people: 226 Close-ups. 226 People that express their passion through an activity, work or hobby that requires wind. The wind is present in the photographs directly or indirectly: 226 Wind in the hair 226 A light breeze through a window 226 The sky with clouds seen through a window 226 An object associated with the use of wind 226 A work situation where wind is on the agenda These kind of portraits can be used in employee ads. Vestas People 3

Guideline for Photo Style 42 Release date: 2011.03.01 Version: 1.4 Category 4 The photographs show Vestas products and people working in Vestas222 production, focusing on the enormous dimensions and scales. Make sure that there is life and activity around the turbines 226 showing the turbines in a context. Show the turbines are a part of every day life. Thus turbines can be shown with people on the photographs. Turbines should be inactive when shown with people nearby. Also to show activity/movement by having an active foreground, e.g. grass in the wind, a moving car to create a natural motion blur. This could also be a way to get colour splashes into the photographs. Another direction is to focus on the turbines and slightly blur the background/surroundings. The photographs should be open, bright and light (airy). This can be achieved by shooting against backlight or partly against the backlight. Avoiding turbines to become dark silhouettes. The sky will burn out in white where the light is brightest. This will create a light and airy atmosphere. Products and Production 4

Guideline for Photo Style 43 Release date: 2011.03.01 Version: 1.4 1 3 3 4 1 2 Here are a few examples of photographic style and subject matter that should be avoided: 1. Force of Nature Photographs that are too banal and use conventional ways of showing wind (too emotional/staged/ romantic). 2. Society Photographs with a subject that is too negative (e.g. over-consumption). 3. Vestas People Arti037cially styled models. Situations should appear realistic (not too styled or too staged). 4. Products & Production Photographs that are computer- generated in an arti037cial style. Photographs to be Avoided

What222s more, the profile of these 54.6 m blades is optimised both for aerodynamic efficiency and to ensure that their structural strength is increased. The shape of the blades also makes them less sensitive to dirt and other airborne materials, resulting in a better production performance at sites where this is a concern.Keep noise down and power up The V112-3.0 MW has various noise modes to meet the operational sound-level restrictions specific to any site. In fact, you can run this turbine in configurable modes and keep within defined decibel ranges 226 all without a significant reduction in productivity. So even in areas where sound-level restrictions are in place, the V112-3.0 MW is often your most viable option.Excellent grid supportThe new GridStreamer231 power system also accounts for the excellent grid support capabilities of the V112-3.0 MW, allowing it to meet a variety of demands worldwide. Having a permanent magnet generator and a full-scale converter makes it possible to fulfill the most advanced grid require - ments on the market today. The GridStreamer231 is able to operate for seconds without grid connections, and the excess power is converted to heat by a resistor in the full-scale converter. In addition, the new GridStreamer231 power system is able to down-rate to 20%. Reactive power generation is possible if needed. 59 Release date: 2011.03.01 Version: 1.4 Tone of Voice

Tone of Voice 60 Release date: 2011.03.01 Version: 1.4 New Vestas Quality. Walking The Talk. Just saying that Wind222s success means everything to us is not enough. We have to prove it. Which is why our research and development unit is the largest in the industry 226 and our technicians, researchers and engineers spend every day looking to improve the reliability and performance of our wind turbines at every turn. We relentlessly monitor thousands of turbines looking to capture even the smallest clue as to how we might deliver a more reliable and cost effective solution for our customers. We test the energy production, power quality and noise level of any new turbine to measure its quality and competitive edge. And once we222ve formed our own opinion, we immediately ask someone else222s, using independent analysts to verify the results. The Tone of Voice is our verbal identity. Simply put, it is the manner with which we chose to express ourselves. As such it constitutes a key element in building a brand, as the way we communicate, re036ects on who we are. When applied properly and to its full advantage, it allows Vestas to communicate with every stakeholder with the same clarity of character personality and distinctiveness regardless of the scenario, medium or channel it is speaking in or through. It makes us stand out. The Tone of Voice is a powerful way of bringing together the most powerful asset in any business 226 its people. The new Vestas Tone of Voice is characterized by a passionate, human, single-minded, factual world-focused approach to communicating on who we are and what we are all about. So, a big part of what we say in the future will require us to 037nd passionate human relevant ways of single mindedly imparting powerful facts to give people a better world-view on Wind energy and Vestas 226 and enable them ultimately to buy into and commit to it themselves 226 to become believers like us and in us. All well and good to have a Tone of Voice but does it really work in action? Well, let222s have a look at how some examples might bring it to life: Old At Vestas, we don222t just talk about quality. We show it. Vestas has the largest research and development unit in the wind industry. Our technicians, researchers and engineers spend every day working to improve the reliability and performance of our wind turbines. We continuously monitor a large number of turbines in operation, both in order to determine how the design can be optimized and to use the data and knowledge to make turbine operation even more reliable and cost-effective. Before introducing a new type of wind turbine, we test the energy production, power quality and noise level. In our opinion, these factors are crucial to the quality and competitive edge of a turbine. After completing a comprehensive testing procedure, and only when we are completely satis037ed, we ask an independent analyst to verify the results. For the sake of your safety. And for the environment. Tone of Voice The Effect So what happened in the transition from old language to our new tone of voice? Not only have we shaved the word count from circa 147 to circa 130, we have looked to improve the following key brand triggers in the copy: 226 Value to the customer 226 Commitment 226 Passionate and relentless pursuit 226 The power of immutable or incontestable facts/proof/ veri037cation And ultimately in style terms we have tried to 223perk224 up the copy in regards to its human feeling.

61 Release date: 2011.03.01 Version: 1.4 Paper Quality

Guideline for Paper Quality 62 Release date: 2011.03.01 Version: 1.4 Paper certi037cation Vestas uses FSC- or PEFC-certi037ed paper only. Paper type Vestas uses matt coated paper. To ensure optimum reproduction of pictures and colours, while also ensuring that the paper type has been aligned with the CVI style and tone, it is important that all publications are printed on matt coated paper. On the right please 037nd details of speci037c paper types, including technical descriptions of their properties (such as bulk and whiteness). The high bulk helps to reduce weight (= postage). An exemption from this rule applies to stationery, which in general is printed on uncoated paper. If it is not possible to use the recommended paper types (possibly because of a limited geographical distribution), reference is made to the technical overview for alternatives matching the recommended speci037cations. These alter- natives must be FSC- and/or PEFC-certi037ed. Weight On the right is a list of paper weights to be used, depending on the type of communication. Printing inks based on vegetable oils Vestas uses only printing companies whose printing inks are based on vegetable oils. In most modern printing inks, the binder which ensures that the colour pigments stick to the substrate printed on are based on vegetable oils, which are harmless to the environment. Unlike mineral oils, vegetable oils are extracted from e.g. soya, 036ax or rape (canola), and the sludge resulting from the de-inking of printed paper (paper recycling) is therefore biodegradable. It is important to check and obtain documen- tation that the printing company in question uses printing inks based on vegetable oils. The FSC label can be found on wood and e.g. paper containing wood from all parts of the world. At Vestas we have not only opted for sustainable, FSC-certi037ed paper, but also for environmentally friendly production of our publications. PEFC certi037cation (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certi037cation schemes) The international PEFC label guarantees sustainable management of forests worldwide. This means that wood and paper with this label come from forests where environmental factors, biodiversity and the socio-economic conditions of the foresters are taken into account.
